Amy Loessy, BSN, RN, NBC-HWC

Nurse & Health Coach

Amy graduated from GCSU with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. In 2022 she received her health coaching certification through Vanderbilt University and in 2023 became Board Certified through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching.

Prior to her functional medicine experience, she worked in Pre-op and PACU in the hospital and outpatient settings. She is grateful for her experience in the conventional medicine setting, which led her to seek out ways to prevent chronic illness and comorbidities. Most recently Amy has been working in functional medicine as an RN and Health Coach. In the functional medicine setting she has previously used her training and skills to manage an IV Therapy Department, build out a health coaching program and has continued to gain experience as an RN in functional medicine.

As a Health Coach, she has a passion for helping others find a balanced approach to lifestyle. Her coaching methods empower patients to make lasting changes as they navigate through their personal health journey. Amy recognizes that each person is unique, and it’s never a one size fits all approach. She will work with each patient individually to help determine how best to implement new lifestyle changes in order to keep moving forward in their health journey.

INTERVIEW WITH AMY

How do you stay healthy with a busy schedule?

I have to plan ahead meals and meal prep for the week. I’ll eat leftovers for lunch and meal prep high protein and balanced breakfasts.

Making sure to get intentional movement in, so making sure I at least go for a 20-30 minute walk or get a 30-45 minute strength training session in 3 days a week.

Prioritize sleep, making sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep helps me stay balanced.

If you could eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I love Thai food, I can never turn down a good Curry or Pad Thai.

What’s your favorite healthy snack?

Smoothies or acai bowl, but I always make sure I have some kind of protein blended in :)

Can you share something about yourself with us we may not know?

I moved to Nashville on a whim with my roommate at the time! I lived in Atlanta at the time and we came to visit Nashville for a weekend. We decided it would be a fun place to live and 2 months later we had moved! I met my husband a month after moving here, so it was definitely all meant to be!

Do you have a favorite inspirational podcast or book?

I love the podcast That Sounds Fun hosted by Annie F. Downs.

What’s your all time favorite song to work out to?

I don’t have an all-time favorite song but I’m not going to lie, Taylor Swift is always on my workout playlists.

Tell us how you first go interested in health and wellness.

Like a lot of us in health and wellness, our own health journeys led us into this area of medicine. But I will say I’ve always looked for ways to prioritize my health throughout my life. As a nurse I wanted to find ways to help patients prevent chronic illness and help people make changes that will help create a healthier lifestyle.

What is your spirit animal and why?

An Alpaca. So Alpaca’s actually hum to communicate, and I will always have a song stuck in my head. Plus for some reason Alpacas and llama’s just make me smile, they’re just so fun looking.
