Dawn Allen, DNP

Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Dawn Allen, DNP, FNP-BC, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Health & Wellness Coach who specializes in personalized, root-cause care. Dawn focuses on helping patients reclaim control—physically, emotionally, and hormonally—through combining science-driven testing and whole-body medicine to build individualized plans that address the systems behind symptoms. She takes time to listen, interpret comprehensive lab data, and translate results into practical plans that support long-term vitality and performance.

Dawn’s approach grew her own frustration with one-size-fits-all care; she pursued advanced training in Functional Medicine and menopause care to offer a more integrative path. As a postmenopausal woman herself, she blends clinical expertise and lived experience to guide patients through midlife transitions with compassion, clarity, and a belief in their capacity to feel better and get stronger.

Dawn earned her Doctorate in Nursing from the University of North Florida and her Master’s in Nursing from the University of Central Florida, with additional training through the School of Applied Functional Medicine. As a postmenopausal woman herself, she brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to midlife care. Outside the clinic, Dawn enjoys boating, strength training, reading, spending time with family, and exploring new places.

INTERVIEW WITH DAWN

How do you stay healthy with a busy schedule?

I prioritize strength training. It’s non-negotiable for my energy, metabolism, and longevity.

I eat simply and intentionally, focusing on protein and whole foods rather than perfection.

I protect my sleep and focus on spending time with family and friends, because my health falls apart without recovery and connection.

If you could eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Homemade gluten-free pizza. Being Italian, I love all things pasta and pizza but a homemade approach can be built with real, nutrient-dense ingredients while also satisfying and delicious.

What’s your favorite healthy snack?

Apples and almond butter or a protein shake with a cup of berries when I’m on the go because it is simple, satisfying, and blood-sugar friendly.

Can you share something about yourself with us we may not know?

I have competed as a masters athlete in Olympic weightlifting. I found training and competing reinforced my belief in strength, resilience, and the body’s ability to adapt and thrive at any age.

Do you have a favorite inspirational podcast or book?

Atomic Habits by James Clear—small, consistent changes truly do create massive, lasting impact in health and life.

What’s your all time favorite song to work out to?

“Thunderstruck” by AC/DC never fails to get me moving and lifting heavier. Also love anything by P!NK!

Tell us how you first go interested in health and wellness.

It started with my personal frustrations and symptoms during my perimenopausal transition despite “normal” labs. That disconnect led me to functional medicine and a deeper, root-cause approach to care that focused on whole body wellness that optimized systems instead of only chasing symptoms.

What is your spirit animal and why?

A dolphin because they are strong, intelligent, adaptable, and thriving in both calm and challenging environments.
