INTERVIEW WITH MIKAYLA

What are 3 ways you stay healthy with a busy schedule?

  • Morning meditation and journaling – starting my day with positivity and gratitude helps me gain clarity mentally and prepares me to attack the day.
  • Bringing my 40oz water bottle with me everywhere I go. The best and easiest way to make sure you are staying healthy, is by staying hydrated.
  • Keeping protein bars on me wherever I go! Especially since I am in school, these always come in clutch, a quick and easy way to get in 20g of protein.

If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Anything Thai, for sure! It’s so consistent and hits the spot every time.

What’s your favorite healthy snack?

1st Phorm’s Vegan protein shake or their Chocolate PB Pretzel Crunch Protein Bar!

Can you share something about yourself with us we may not know?

I am a Type 1 Diabetic! I got diagnosed back in 2011 and it completely changed my outlook on living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.

Do you have a favorite inspirational podcast or book?

Favorite book – Super Brain: Unleashing the Explosive Power of Your Mind to Maximize Health, Happiness, and Spiritual Well-Being

What’s your all-time favorite song to work out to?

I honestly can’t decide, but probably anything Lil Durk, Future, or Lil Baby!

Tell us how you first got interested in health and wellness.

I had played soccer my whole life up until my Senior year of high school, so I have always been active, but once I quit, I knew I needed to do something to keep me in shape. That’s when I started going to the gym and got comfortable with lifting weights. Ever since, I have fallen in love with it and it has become my passion.

What is your spirit animal and why?

My spirit animal is a turtle! Turtles are confident in where they are going, are in it for the longevity, and enjoying the process. The saying “Slow and steady wins the race” embodies the turtle spirit and I have definitely had to learn and accept that concept over the years. I’m all about good, high vibrational energy and staying true to my path no matter how slow or arduous the process may be. But I am always reminding myself that whatever is meant for me will not pass me and to just trust the journey!
