Sarah Hendrix, RN, BSN

Nurse

Atlanta & Roswell

Sarah Hendrix graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2016, receiving a Bachelors of Science in Sociology, with a concentration in Medical Sociology. Understanding the complexities of the healthcare system, the health disparities that exist among vulnerable populations, and the impact our social, emotional, spiritual, and physical environments have on our overall health and wellness, allows Sarah to provide care with empathy and cultural competence. Sarah loves interacting with new patients at STAT Wellness and understands each individual’s health journey is unique.

Sarah graduated from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University in December 2020, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Sarah’s first job out of nursing school was as a Registered Nurse in one of the busiest hospitals in the nation; the hospital where more babies are delivered than any other hospital in the United States. Sarah learned so many valuable skills while working in the hospital but was eager to expand her knowledge in functional medicine and pursue her passion of helping others achieve optimal health and wellness. Having been a patient of functional medicine for the last 8 + years, Sarah knows firsthand the life changing impact functional medicine can have on your life.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys exploring local health restaurants, spending time with family, working out, and going for long walks with her husband and their dog, Atticus.

INTERVIEW WITH SARAH

What are 3 ways you stay healthy with a busy schedule?

  1. I try to prep my meals for the week on Sundays and oftentimes prep one other day midweek. I keep it clean and simple: A protein and lots and lots of colorful veggies!
  2. I always do some type of daily movement. Whether it is working out (I love the stat movement app), hopping on the elliptical, or going for a walk with my dog, Atticus. I try to get at least 10,000 steps a day!
  3. I have a bedtime “routine” that helps me relax, both mentally and physically. I also try to get in bed around the same time every night!

If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Honestly, I have no clue BUT something super healthy and full of color. I have a favorite restaurant- True Food Kitchen. I could definitely eat True Food for the rest of my life.

What’s your favorite healthy snack?

An Apple with almond butter and cinnamon sprinkled on top!

Can you share something about yourself with us we may not know?

I am obsessed with the Moon. I am total science nerd and am super intrigued with space. My dream is to travel to space one day!

Do you have a favorite inspirational podcast or book?

I love to read anything non-fiction and health/wellness related.

I love Kristin’s podcast “Little By.” I love learning about the human body and how to optimize and improve my own health.

What’s your all-time favorite song to work out to?

This is a hard question!!! Honestly, I don’t have a favorite song but anything upbeat! (Katelyn’s playlists are pretty amazing!!)

Tell us how you first got interested in health and wellness.

I have always been interested in my own health and wellness. But I would say it all started my freshman year of college, when I moved out west to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder. I met so many interesting health-conscious people, had numerous healthy restaurant/ food options, started practicing yoga, and frequented the Boulder farmer’s market! The health options are endless in Boulder and I became obsessed. I really felt I was doing “everything right” until my body shut down and I found out I had mono. I had to withdraw from school and move back home to Atlanta. This is when my true health journey began. I quickly learned what being sick felt like and wanted to do anything and everything I could to get my health back. It took a while but through a lot of my own research and working with a functional medicine provider, I was able to gain back my health and learned so much throughout the process- and I have been obsessed with functional and integrative medicine ever since.

What is your spirit animal and why?

The hawk- truly cannot tell you why other than just about every time I am outside, I can see or hear a hawk. I swear I have some sort of connection with this animal.
