INTERVIEW WITH ZINKA

What are 3 ways you stay healthy with a busy schedule?

I go to Pilates at least once a week along with working out, plan my meals ahead of time for the week, and journal for my mental health!

If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Probably Mediterranean food – it always tastes so fresh and healthy, and reminds me of my mother’s cooking!

What’s your favorite healthy snack?

Probably yogurt with some peanut butter or a peanut butter banana protein shake!

Can you share something about yourself with us we may not know?

My family is from Bosnia and I’m fluent in Serbo-Croatian!

Do you have a favorite inspirational podcast or book?

I enjoy listening to Armchair Expert, especially when the guests are researchers, doctors, etc – always so cool to hear their stories and the things they’re passionate about!

What’s your all-time favorite song to work out to?

Anything from my high school volleyball warm up playlist really – lots of 2010s bops on there!

Tell us how you first got interested in health and wellness.

I always wanted to help people and be in healthcare from what I can remember, but when I started really learning about the body and its functions, and how we can impact that with exercise, diet, and our daily habits during some of my classes in late high school/early college, that is when I really started developing a passion for wellness. Being an athlete in high school also sparked this interest. The human body is so cool!

What is your spirit animal and why?

I would say my spirit animal is a dolphin – I love being in the water and am big on social interaction and communication, just like they are in nature!
